First Look: Meet Grimm’s Newest Wesen: Octo-Man!

140722mag-grimm1_210x305It’s the worst kind of identity theft. When NBC’s Grimm returns this fall for its fourth season, we’ll meet up with Gedächtnis Esser — aka Octo-Man — a nefarious new Wesen who can attach his tentacles to your head and steal all your memories, leaving you either dead or with severe amnesia. And we’ve got the very first look at the slimy fellow!

“This guy is ruthless and sophisticated — a high-tech spy who is involved with some highly placed military intelligence personnel,” says cocreator David Greenwalt. Though Octo-Man will claim many victims, he specifically targets that feisty new Grimm in town, Trubel (Jacqueline Toboni), and that, notes Greenwalt, “will leave her in a very dire state.”

Does this mean Grimm will suddenly be Grimm-free? Last May’s season finale ended with Det. Nick Burkhardt (David Giuntoli) tragically losing his superpowers. But, when the show returns (on Friday, Oct. 24), he and girlfriend Juliette (Bitsie Tulloch) will think they might be better off. “For Juliette, it’s been no fun being in love with a Grimm — in fact, it’s nonstop stress and constant risk,” notes cocreator Jim Kouf. “Would it be so bad if Nick didn’t get his powers back? It’s like asking Superman, ‘If you had the choice, would you stop being a superhero, marry Lois Lane and live normally — and happily ever after — in Kansas?'”

Season 4 Spoilers: About those Black Forest keys…

Apparently, the Black Forest is more than just a really good kind of ham; it is also a long-nagging plot point when it comes to “Grimm” that many have questioned for quite a long time. So when will these questions eventually become answers? This is something that we are apparently going to get some answers to … eventually.

Now that Nick has another key and is starting to piece the map together, is it possible that all will be revealed with this next season? Well, you know that there are still many more keys to be collected, so let’s not rush into things here. Speaking to TVLine, executive producer David Greenwalt had the following to say:

“We can look forward to a third key, and we know the royals have four, and Nick and his cohorts have three, and in Year 5 — we promise –we will put all this together and find out what the hell they lead to.”

What we are personally interested in seeing more is how Nick is going to unravel the “infidelity,” which is really something that he didn’t have control over. This is one of two crazy twists that came through the finale, with the other one being where Nick is now when it comes to his powers … and we really applaud the show for this one. As many series go along, they traditionally feel this sort of temptation to push the envelope, and have things become as crazy as humanly possible … even if that is often the last thing that you need. The fact that the show opted to go in the completely opposite direction is commendable, and it forces us to look deeper at the Nick character and his humanity.

What do you want to see on “Grimm” next season?

Spoilers – Woman in Black

Unfortunately, “Grimm” fans will have to wait a whole month before the series airs another new episode since NBC will dedicate its primetime spots to airing the 2014 Winter Olympics. However, once the Olympics are over, the thrilling drama series will return with an all-new episode filled with twists and horror.

In the last episode, Monroe endured one hell of a family reunion after he proposed to Rosalee and his parents, played by guest stars Dee Wallace and Chris Mulkey, decided to surprise him and Rosalee with an early arrival to Portland to celebrate the big news. However, while there, things get intense when Monroe’s father attacked Nick.

On Feb. 28, NBC will air “Revelation” in which an old friend will come to town. NBC has yet to issue an official aynopsis for the episode, but DreadCentral reports that it is written by David Greenwalt and Jim Kouf and directed by Terrence O’Hara.

Later on in the season, “Hostages” actress Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio will mark her return to the series as “Grimm’s” Woman in Black, TVLine reports exclusively.

In the spring the actress will reprise her role of Kelly Burkhardt, Nick’s mother who has been dubbed the Woman in Black. Although the “Grimm” matriarch has been missing since Season 2, Juliette discovered earlier this season that she has been keeping in touch with Nick via email. There is also speculation that Kelly’s return will be connected to another character who is not Nick. She will appear in multiple episodes.

“Revelation” airs on “Grimm” on Friday, Feb. 28 at NBC.
